Cough Suppressant Uses Temporarily relieves cough. Directions Take every 4 hours. Do not take more than 6 doses in 24 hours. Adults and children 12 years and over: 7.5 mL (1 1/2 tsp). Children 6-11 years: 3.75 mL (3/4 tsp). Children under 6 years: ask a doctor. Warnings Do not use if you are now taking a prescription monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI) (certain drugs for depression, psychiatric or emotional conditions, or Parkinson's disease) or for 2 weeks after stopping the MAOI drug. If you do not now if your prescription drug is an MAOI, ask your doctor or pharmacist before taking this product. Ask a doctor before use if you have a breathing problem or chronic cough that lasts or occurs with smoking, asthma, chronic bronchitis or emphysema. A cough that occurs with too much phlegm (mucus). When using this product do not use more than directed. Stop use and ask a doctor if cough lasts more than 7 days, comes back or occurs with fever, rash or headache that lasts. These could be signs of a serious condition. Symptoms do not get better within 7 days or occur with a fever. If pregnant or breast-feeding, ask a health professional before use. Keep out of the reach of children. In case of overdose, get medical help or contact a Poison Control Center right away.
